Our Story


Zooba founder, Chris Khalifa, meets Executive Chef, Moustafa El Refaey, in a local café to convince him (and his wife) to quit his job and get on board with Zooba.

Zooba opens its first street eatery in Zamalek. Opening day was chaos; the store was packed; orders that should take 4 minutes took 40; and the ceiling started dripping water. The team slept in the branch that night.

The Zooba team grabs first place at the HACE Hotel Expo Cooking Competition; the first time to be won by a non hotel.

Things just got real. Zooba expands, opening its second and third locations in City Stars mall and Maadi. Our Zooba family grows to 150.

Our local street eatery ventures into new territories to cover more of Cairo with the 4th and 5th branches in Downtown Mall, New Cairo and the historic Korba neighborhood in Heliopolis.

Going beyond freshness and quality, we reached a “Real Food” milestone with a preservative and additive free menu.

Competing with renowned ‘falafelites’ at Borough market, Zooba takes home the London Falafel Festival trophy on occasion of the UN 2016 Year of the Pulses. Find out more.
